It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I've gotten to do a couple of family pictures for the holidays so far. In the next few days I will subject my own family to this practice as well, because my mother has decided we need to do it every year it seems. Small price to pay, I suppose, for use of space in their garage for the studio.

Here's just a taste of what I've been up to. I have so many props I haven't begun to use them all!

October has been busy!

October is the deadline for most school's seniors to get their picture in for the yearbook. Late September and Early October sees a lot of senior portrait work for photographers as that's when most people begin thinking of school photos. I recommend all juniors to think about getting their portraits done in the summer if at all possible so that you have a lot of time to decide over which picture will be sent in and that you don't have to deal with it while dealing with sports, homework, and other senior year stressors!

Still, one of the most fun times to get portraits done are while the seasons change. Fall brings a lot of great texture and color - if you can get out while there's sun and not rain. Rain can make for some pretty unique pictures, but I know it's not ideal for most! I'm not a fan of being wet and cold, either!

I had the priveledge of meeting some of the class of 2012 this month. The last few sessions involved a SoHi Star and twin Kenai Kardinals. Each had a distinct personality and it was fun - and sometimes a challenge - to get their personalities to come through. But once they did, oh boy! Seniors continue to be my favorite sessions!

Aside from portraits I also attended the Medium Schools Football Championships and watched Kenai regain their Champion title. Congratulations to both Kenai and Homer for a game well played!

Sadly, with my sports lens still out being serviced I was unable to shoot the event, but I did take the smaller lens and shot some of the drumline's work. I'm currently editing those pictures so we'll have to wait and share those on another day!

I love this time of year. The colors pop out all over, and it's the start of the holiday season. Being a drama geek in school, I love the dressing up that happens in October. The family gets together for Thanksgiving, the day after which we break out the Christmas decorations and begin turning the house into a winter wonderland. It's my favorite time as a photographer with senior portraits wrapping up, and families turning to the Family Portrait to stick inside their Christmas and Holiday cards. I'm so excited for this mini-session. With all of the wet weather we've had, the fact that I can put together something in the studio is what I've wanted for a long while, and now I've got the space and time to do it! so don't be shy, break out the fall sweaters or the halloween costume and come have a fun picture done. You can't lose!

Love Me Some Football!

In the last year since having my 100-400mm lens I've shot many a football game - mainly Kardinal football as that was my high school after all, but none the less, I have given my lens a workout. So much so that when I shot Kenai's homecoming last weekend it finally gave out on me. To say I'm bummed is an understatement. I love that lens. It's perfect for sports as well as wildlife photography. I miss it. What's worse is we're getting closer to the playoffs. My lens is out for repair for "at least" the next 10 business days... two weeks means I miss the last two games of the regular season unless a miracle happens. I'm so disappointed.

But! Before my lens went completely haywire I managed to snap off this shot of Kenai's AJ Hull.

Kards play the Homer Marineers on Saturday, the Stars play the Panthers. Friday it's the Bulldogs vs Seward. Good luck to all the teams, stay safe, and may the best team win!

Happy Easter!

Had a fantastic shoot on Saturday with an adorable doll baby. You may recognize her, she's been a client since her infancy. I am so honored to be able to see her grow up. These are her spring/Easter photos. It was a reshoot as the first time around she was a little overly excited about my dog being at the studio/house and she was more interested in playing with the dog than getting her pictures done. I've learned that the dog will be out of sight out of mind from here on out with her! Studio photography is a learning process, that's for sure!

There's still time to get your spring/Easter pictures in. Call 907-244-2801 or email me to schedule a shoot today!

Disneyland & California Adventure

I'm slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things, but it'll be a while before I can really put words on the blog(s) about the trip to California... don't worry, I plan on giving you another glimse into the wedding photos from January, but I need to start editting them all first!

So for now a couple from the Disney portion of the trip.

Christmas Time Is Here...

Christmas Time Is Here…

Carols in the air… I love the Christmas season. The lights, the festive decorations, family and food, gifts: love all of it! As the year comes to a close the last quarter has been a blur. I ended my time with the Census Bureau at the end of September. October I set up my photography website and blog. November was pretty much one long vacation with my road trip to Disney and back, and I signed a year long lease on the house I am currently living in. I came back from my trip, packed, and moved down to Soldotna. I also landed a job to pay the bills. Whew!

In between all of that I had a few photo shoots. I love the space I have in my house, and will be setting up a studio after Christmas to really get into the swing of things. With my full time job at the credit union, I will have limited slots available on most days, but we’ll get ‘er done!

So here, to satisfy my need share, are a couple from my latest photo shoot. Pretty handsome family if I do say so myself!

Just Mommy & Me

Gotta love toddlers! Had a sweet shoot with a mother and daughter a couple weekends ago and just realized I hadn't shared with everyone. The little one is all energy and on the go, but we managed to come away with a few keepers! I think they're sweet. I am loving watching this little one grow up.

**I will be gone from November 7 - November 24, 2010. Please book before then if you are wanting family photos for Christmas cards!**

New Site, New Outlook

After a 20 month hiatus, I'm back in action as a full time photographer. Working for the Census was a great accomplishment, but now I'm ready to dig in deep and let the creative juices flow. In the coming weeks I hope to add a lot of photos and stories to this blog as I gain a following here in Alaska.

I am looking forward to meeting you and working with you to create one of a kind memories on 'film'. The digital age has made for many improvements in photography, but it takes a special touch to make those images pop, Photography by Antonia can do that for you!

Check back often as I hope to keep you up to date with what my camera and I are experiencing!
